Tennis Charter for the Palm

Q: Does Tennis Charter for the Palm work the new Palm OS 5.0 devices?

A: Tennis Charter will be available on Palm OS 5 very soon. Like many other Palm software products, Tennis Charter for the Palm OS 5.0 is still in beta testing. We expect to have support for OS 5 available very shortly.

Tennis Charter for the Pocket PC

Q: When installing Tennis Charter for the Pocket PC, the Pocket PC shows a screen that asks me to confirm a file replacement. What should I do?

A: First make sure you have a backup of your device before replacing any files. You can always attempt to install the software by always selecting "No" to the request to replace files. If the program doesn't work, you can attempt a reinstall.

If your message looks something like this:

... then you should be able to install the software by saying "No." If the message you are getting looks like this:

... then you should look at the dates on the files. If the file that is being installed is newer than the file that is on your device, you will probably want to say "Yes" and allow it to overwrite the file. Remember to have your device backed up.

Tennis Charter Desktop Companion

Q: When trying to install Tennis Charter Desktop Component I get a message telling me that I do not have MDAC installed. What is this, and how do I get it?

A: MDAC stand for Microsoft Data Access Components. In order to communicate with a database on your computer Tennis Charters needs some basic components to be installed on your computer

You can download the latest MDAC installation from Microsoft at http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/list/dataaccess.asp.

Note: You will need to have IE 5.5 or better to install MDAC, and you will likely require the Microsoft Jet installation as well, available on our site at http://www.tennischarter.com/support/downloads/Jet40Sp3_Comp.exe.

Q: When trying to install Tennis Charter Desktop Component I get the error message "Unable to load odbctl32.dll." How do I fix this?

A: You're computer is missing the Microsoft Jet library. You can doanload it from our site at http://www.tennischarter.com/support/downloads/Jet40Sp3_Comp.exe.

Note: If this does not resolve your problem, you may need to update your computer's MDAC library. You can find instructions for installing the most up to date MDAC installation here.

Q: When trying to run the "Sync Data" process on the Desktop Component for the Pocket PC, I get errors every now and then. Why is this?

A: The transfering of data between the desktop and the Pocket PC is dependent on ActiveSync. If ActiveSync drops it's connection with your device, or if it crashes, the Desktop Companion will not be able to communicate with your device. Normally, trying a second time will not raise the same issue. If it does, try disconnecting your device, reconnecting it and making sure that AcitveSync has a connection to your device. After ActiveSync finishes synchronizing your PIM data, try again. If you still recieve error messages, try ending the ActiveSync process "Avsynmgr.exe" from the Task Manager, or reboot your computer.
